Aside from bird watching and hands-on science fun, kids and the whole family would surely want to have some recreational activity such as swimming. Ray's Splash Planet is an indoor waterpark with lots of attractions such as the Blue Comet which is a giant slide that kids and adults can enjoy.

Just make sure you slide together with really young kids to keep them safe. The U.S. National Whitewater Center lets you go whitewater rafting or kayaking but kids can enjoy the mild whitewater rafting. You'll also enjoy their outdoor scenery.
