Cornelius is the youngest city of Mecklenburg County. This city was incorporated in 1905. The original name given to the city was Liverpool; soon it was named after J. B Cornelius, a major cotton mills stock holder. The population of this city is roughly 25,000. The sister towns of Cornelius are: Huntersville and Davidson.
