Free things to do in Charlotte: The Reed Goldmine State Historic Park
The Reed Goldmine State Historic Park which is located in Reed mine road is the first documented gold rush that took place in the country. It was discovered in the year 1799 when Conrad Reed discovered a seventeen pound golden nugget around the area. Following that, heavy mining took over the place, and a lot of gold was obtained here.
The visitors will be impressed by having a tour of the gold mines and they can participate in the gold panning. They can also explore the hiking trails that surround the area for free. It is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from nine in the morning to five in the evening. The admission to the museum is free of cost.
