What's the Early history of Charlotte, NC
The present area which is now known as Charlotte was first settled during 1755 when Thomas Polk alongside Thomas Spratt & family stopped while travelling and subsequently built a house for their residence. Within short span of a decade, the area grew into a community and was officially named as Charlotte Town during 1768. During the revolutionary period, Charlotte was encampment site for both British and American armies.
Charlotte an ideological bed during revolutionary war has retained the historical landmarks like Independence High School, Independence Boulevard, Freedom Park, Freedom drive and Independence centre. In early 1800 the churches began to form which included Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists and Episcopalians.
