The Wing Haven Garden was first started in the tear 1927. The people who were actually behind starting this garden are Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson. The garden was however taken over by Wing Haven Foundation in the year 1970.

After 1970, all the operations related to the garden were then handled by this foundation. Still, Clarksons were found to still dwell at this property till the year 1988.

McDowell Nature Center is a natural preserve spanning an area of 1115 acres of land. A part of this natural preserve has been designated as Camping ground. The rest of the natural preserve comprises of flora and fauna which the authorities are doing a very good job of preserving.
