Duke Energy Center
The city of Charlotte in North Carolina has for long enjoyed a lot of accolades for being a world class city. It has achieved a lot of feats in different areas and has gained a lot of recognition from people all over the world. The city has been largely lauded due to the high levels of environmental friendly standards it has set for itself.
Also, the transformation of the city into a cultural and entertainment hub has been talked about a lot lately. A regular traveler to Charlotte can tell you a lot about the functioning of the city
However, the most recent development in Charlotte has been that of the completion of the 'Duke Energy Center'. This building is poised to become the second tallest structure in the world. In fact, architects and construction consultants have said that this structure is a feather in the cap of the city administration due to the large number of records associated with it.
The building has 5 'mechanical floors' in addition to the 48 regular floors. These floors have been given the special capacity to rotate on a horizontal axis. In the beginning, when the construction of the building had started, the owners decided to name it differently. In fact, the original name of the center was proposed to be the 'Wachovia center'. But the idea was discarded and the present name was adopted.
